The Black Administrators in Child Welfare is an advocacy, membership, research, training and technical assistance organization. Registered as a 501C3, BACW was founded in 1971 and incorporated in 1975 in New York to respond to the need for culturally appropriate services to the overrepresented African American children and families, and to provide a support network for individuals serving as executives managing child welfare and other human service agencies. Governed by a 24 member Board of Directors with its day-to-day operations managed by an Executive Director, BACW is the only child welfare organization that has been involved nationally in work that addresses child welfare policy, practice, and research on behalf of African American children specifically but all children in foster care. BACW is committed to strengthening and supporting programs designed to promote the healthy development of children, youth and families. We support communities that are serving all children with special attention given to those with a demonstrated interest in helping children of color.
National Association of Black Social Workers, Inc.
The National Association of Black Social Workers, Inc., comprised of people of African ancestry, is committed to enhancing the quality of life and empowering people of African ancestry through advocacy, human services delivery, and research. National Association of Black Social Workers, Inc. will work to create a world in which people of African ancestry will live free from racial domination, economic exploitation, and cultural oppression. In collaboration with national, international, and other appropriate groups, NABSW will continue to leverage its collective expertise to strategically develop capacity of people of African ancestry to sustain and flourish. NABSW’s vision is guided by the Principles of the Nguzo Saba, which are Unity, Self-determination, Collective Work and Responsibility, Cooperative Economics, Purpose, Creativity, and Faith, and the Seven Cardinal Virtues of Ma’at, which are Right, Truth, Justice, Order, Reciprocity, Balance, and Harmony.
National Association of Black Psychologists
The Association of Black Psychologists sees its mission and destiny as the liberation of the African Mind, empowerment of the African Character, and enlivement and illumination of the African Spirit. The Association is organized to operate exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, including but not limited to: promoting and advancing the profession of African Psychology ,influencing and affecting social change; and developing programs whereby psychologists of African descent (hereafter known as Black Psychologists) can assist in solving problems of Black communities and other ethnic groups.
National Medical Association
The NMA promotes the collective interests of physicians and patients of African descent. We carry out this mission by serving as the collective voice of physicians of African descent and a leading force for parity in medicine, elimination of health disparities and promotion of optimal health.
National Dental Association
The National Dental Association promotes oral health equity among people of color by harnessing the collective power of its members, advocating for the needs of and mentoring dental students of color, and raising the profile of the profession in our communities.
National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice
Created in 1974, the National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice (NABCJ) has made a goal of achieving equal justice for blacks and other minorities. Our members consist of criminal justice professionals such as those in law enforcement, institutional and community corrections, courts, social services, academia, religious and other community-based interests as well as criminal justice students and community leaders. In October of 1970 the first convention of Black Professional Fire Fighters was held in Hartford, Connecticut. The constitution and the proposed structure of the International Association of Black Professional Fire Fighters was adopted. To address the lack of substantial access into the Fire Service and upward mobility opportunities, it became therefore incumbent upon our membership to press for wide-scale reforms. And in the course of dealing with these problems, we expect to reduce the number of fire deaths and property loss in our respective communities and society as whole. We are convinced that the black community has an abundance of untapped talent to offer the fire service. Conversely, we expect to improve the economic development and employment opportunities for blacks. As black fire fighters, it is our challenge to make the fire service more relevant to the needs and aspirations of black citizens. The I.A.B.P.F.F. will ensure that black fire department officials become full partners in the leadership and decision-making arenas of the fire service.
Blacks in Law Enforcement of America
Blacks in Law Enforcement of America (BLEA) recognize the rich history of the African American law enforcement professional who fought for our survival and 120 years later, we now have black commissioners and chiefs in law enforcement. We will never forget the shoulders that we stand on, because we did not get here on our own. Blacks in Law Enforcement of America recognize that true policing is “extended,” meaning that the existence of BLEA will not only focus on the policy and procedures of the institution of law enforcement. BLEA will also focus on outside institutions like education, economic development, and employment that can contribute to the crime, safety, and security of the communities we serve.

The National Congress of Black Women, Inc. (NCBW) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the educational, political, economic and cultural development of African American Women and their families. NCBW also serves as a nonpartisan voice and instrument on issues pertaining to the appointment of African American Women at all levels of government, and to increase African American women’s participation in the educational, political, economic and social arenas. Currently, NCBW provides opportunities for women for leadership and decision-making positions in government, nonprofit organizations and the private sector. The organization was founded in 1984. Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm served as the First National Chair. Dr. C. DeLores Tucker succeeded her, and Dr. E. Faye Williams is the current National Chair.

The mission of the Center for Nu Leadership on Urban Solutions is to influence socio-economic, criminal and juvenile justice policy by providing research, advocacy and leadership training to formerly and currently incarcerated people, their families, communities, allies and criminal justice professionals for the purpose of:
(1) increasing public health and safety by creating viable alternatives that challenge and change over reliance on incarceration-punishment policies and practices as a solution to socio-economic urban and rural problems;
(2) reshaping the media portrayal and public opinion of people with criminal records by humanizing their popular image and offering language alternatives to counter current negative stereotypes, beliefs, misinformation and myths; and

Dr. Randy Vaughn (TX) Director of the Office of Disaster Management for the Convention, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed during the 2009 Annual Session held in Memphis, TN. The American Red Cross will be an invaluable partner in helping the Convention meet community needs during and after a disaster. Engaging local churches in disaster response and blood drives are a few of the ways in which National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. seeks to work with the American Red Cross.

The mission of the Samuel DeWitt Proctor Conference (SDPC) is to nurture, sustain, and mobilize the African American faith community in collaboration with civic, corporate, and philanthropic leaders to address critical needs of human and social justice within local, national, and global communities. SDPC seeks to strengthen the individual and collective capacity of thought leaders and activists in the church, academy, and community through education, advocacy, and activism.
National Voting Rights Museum and Institute
The NVRMI will serve as a steward of history and repository to identify, acquire, organize, preserve, and administer records and information of enduring value, as well as care for and protect the collection of historical records and manuscripts. Its primary goal is to educate, inform, and remind individuals of the lessons of the past by enriching and enhancing the knowledge of voting rights through visual and audio means. Its purpose is to also preserve and make accessible archives and information it contains. At the heart of the Museum lie its archives, which house the museum’s collections, artifacts and digitization. The NVRMI Archives will promote the collection, description and use of archives and manuscripts in Selma and Dallas County.

The Nation of Islam was founded on the basis of peace and as an answer to a prayer of Abraham to deliver his people who would be found in servitude slavery in the Western Hemisphere in this day and time. The Flag of Islam with the symbols of the Sun, Moon, and the Stars, represent the Universe and is also a Banner of Universal peace and Harmony. Our Holy Temples of Islam were established in America as sanctuaries of peace and higher learning into the Knowledge of the Oneness of God. Our schools are called Universities of Islam and teach the higher meaning of Islam which is Mathematics. We have always been taught to respect the laws of the land. We are taught never to carry arms, to make war or to be the aggressor, for this is against the nature of the righteous. We are taught the Principles of Divine Unity and the Universal Brotherhood of Islam.

Fathers Incorporated (FI), a not-for-profit organization, serves as a leader in the promotion of Responsible Fatherhood and Mentoring. This International, National, and local focus will raise the awareness about, and combat the impact of father absence. We seek to expand the range of work in the fields of comprehensive and non-traditional family service models.
