Goals

  • Analyses of the social, economic and political factors contributing to the crisis of gentrification in Black communities.
  • Sharing of information and assessment of strategies currently being utilized to combat gentrification.
  • Presentation of new ideas and innovative strategies to achieve development without displacement.
  • Update on IBW’s Marshall Plan and Model Cities Initiatives as vehicles to revitalize marginalized communities.
  • Establishment of a Resource and Communications Center to provide technical assistance to communities striving to combat gentrification and implement community wealth-building strategies.
  • Create a pool of community economic development specialists, urban planners and scholars, community economic development advocates and practitioners as consultants and resource persons for the Resource and Communications Center.
