Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs marked his birthday last week with the release of his new mixtape MMM (Money Making Mitch), and during a recent promotional appearance about his new music, he also touched upon President Barack Obama and the current state of the black community.

According to Combs, the president and the government have not done enough to help black communities.

“We got Obama into office, the giveback, the deal, where are the things in our community that have gotten drastically better?” Combs asked.

Over the last couple of election seasons, Combs has been very active in the Vote or Die campaign, and although he acknowledges that being president isn’t an easy job, he wants the government to send direct aid to black communities since the black community rallied behind the president.

“Let’s stop overcomplicating it,” Combs said. “The hugest group of people that get you into office, you have to change their lives for the better. Pick a side, because they got you into office. And if that side just happens to be black people, and you’re black, you still have to do what’s fair.”

“Unapologetically spend billions of dollars to uplift black communities. We just need some education, some jobs and we want to know that it was for us,” Combs stated.

“I’m not going after Obama. I’m just saying that time is ticking and we need some repayment on the deal. The black community got President Obama into office, and there should be some nice parting gifts to give our youth, our future, a better chance,” Combs continued.

Combs’ ideas aren’t new. Many people over the last presidential term have expressed similar sentiments. But others have come to the realization that more than likely these thoughts are just pipe dreams. Also, others are probably wondering, besides stocking liquor stores in black communities with Ciroc, what else exactly has Puff Daddy done for the community?
