Mr. Rojas was the editor of the Amsterdam News when I had the pleasure of meeting him. That was the year I published my article on the Newark Rebellion. At the time, it was the 25 anniversary. My friend Todd and I drove him from NJ to his home in Maryland and it was then, I heard of the harrowing near death experience he faced as the Director of Communications in Grenada. Rojas spoke of his last words to Maurice Bishop who knew he was driving to his death and the bravery of Rojas' wife and family in the midst of threats, persecution and imprisonment. I am honored to have met him and I'm glad he can return to a Grenada that finally recognizes this brilliant man's contributions.
