The Institute of the Black World 21st Century (IBW) adds its outrage to the global condemnations of the vile and racist insults targeting African people across the world that recently spewed from foul-mouthed US President Donald Trump.

Trump’s vulgar gutter language is yet another example of his true White Supremacist side with gross and blatant mischaracterizations of black countries in Africa and the Caribbean. As an organization with a long history of solidarity work in Haiti, IBW today stands firm with this great black Caribbean nation which has endured a long history of US invasion, occupation and destabilization at the hands of the United States of America and despite this history of aggression against them, the immigrant sons and daughters of Haiti continue to contribute immensely to American democracy and the general well-being of the United States.

IBW wishes to remind the historically ignorant US President that hundreds of freed slaves from Haiti fought alongside American colonial troops against the British Army during the siege of Savannah, GA in 1799 which was one of the most significant, foreign contributions made to the American Revolutionary War. And, Trump should also be educated to the historical fact that France’s military defeat at the hands of rebelling Haitian slaves prompted Napoleon to sell the Louisiana territory to the United States in 1803 thus doubling the geographical size of the United States overnight.

IBW joins the call for Trump to publicly apologize to the Haitian people and to the nations of Africa and we also call on all people of conscience and good will in the USA to actively resist Trump’s racism and his White Supremacist rule.
