Join us for a discussion on the growing crisis in Ethiopia, as we explore pathways to justice, peace and reconciliation.
New York, NY — The Pan African Unity Dialogue (PAUD), an initiative of the Institute of the Black World 21st Century (IBW) will broadcast a virtual international forum examining the factors that have contributed to the growing crisis in Ethiopia and its implications for the Horn of Africa region and for the African continent as a whole. The live Webinar is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 20th beginning at 12 Noon (EST) USA.
The forum will address the huge human toll that the inter-ethnic conflict has wrought to date. The numbers on their own are shocking. At least 400,000 people are facing famine-like conditions in the north, 80% of essential medication is not available and more than two million people have been forced from their homes.
“Our forum will explore various factors contributing to the tragic crisis in Ethiopia,” said Dr. Ron Daniels, President of the Institute of the Black World 21st Century and moderator of the Webinar.
“PAUD’s main goal is to appeal to all sides to stop the killing and carnage and use peaceful means to achieve a mutually agreeable and just settlement. The enormous human suffering is simply unacceptable.”
In addition, the Webinar will explore the historical significance of Ethiopia to the Black World and the crucial roles of the African Union (AU), the United Nations, civil society organizations and the Ethiopian diaspora in exploring pathways to justice, peace and reconciliation.
A distinguished group of panelists will provide objective analyses of various elements in the Ethiopia crisis and will offer recommendations for a cessation of the conflict within the context of Pan-African unity and solidarity.
