Dr. Julianne Malveaux — economist, author, educator, and Commissioner with the National African American Reparations Commission (NAARC) — delivered remarks at Congressman Al Green’s 3rd Annual Slavery Remembrance Legislative Update Breakfast in the U.S. Capitol House Dining Room on August 23, 2025.

In this address, Dr. Malveaux reflects on the central role of enslaved people in building the United States, the enduring legacy of racialized economics, and the urgency of remembrance and reparations.
