Common Questions

What is Gentrification?

Gentrification is a process of changing the character of a neighborhood through the influx of more affluent residents and businesses. This is a common and controversial topic in politics and in urban planning.

Why Is Gentrification Bad?

As neighborhoods become gentrified, the consumer need changes; therefore, creating more expensive and modern housing and markets which then run the locals (who are often black or Hispanic) out of town and can be a threat to small businesses because of the raise in renting a store space in a more modern area.
